A Slice of Wood Workshop began in 2009 when I started working in construction framing houses. I started bringing home 2×4’s and other such wood building small things. I started expanding my woodworking hobby by building furniture, including a coffee table completely out of pallets. I have built many things in my house now that I’m very proud of from shelves and picture frames to our kitchen table and my daughters beds.
In 2011 I decided to slowly give up my power tools and become more hand tool oriented. My wife gave me my first handplane for Christmas that year and my collection has grown greatly. I have planes from 2.5″ up to 30″ and multiple molding planes for creating decorative edges. These tools, however, can be very expensive, so I started making my own. And this is where blacksmithing came into the picture.
In the beginning of 2013 I struck a hammer to hot metal for the first time. Since this time my passion for smithing has grown greatly and even turned into somewhat of a passion to make artwork out of metal. I really enjoy hitting the hot steal and forming it into something completely different than people could ever imagine.
I want to thank you for visiting my website and please feel free to contact me if you are interested in creating something in either wood or metal.
