Make a Bowl Gouge Pt 1 | Forming and Heat Treating

I have decided to make my own bowl gouge for two reason. The first is the cost. Bowl gouges are fairly expensive and I wanted to see if I could make one for cheap out of metal found local. I am trying this out on mild steel, which might not hold an edge as long, but if this works I will step up to tool or spring steel and see how those do. The second reason is that I just enjoy making my own tools. So here we are, the first two steps. Forming and heat treating the metal. Check out the video and enjoy.
